The Civil War reenactors stage a battle in the cotton field across from the build site early Sunday morning. These reenactors perform across the country, and some have appeared in Civil War-era films such as Glory and Gods and Generals.
Even in this picture, you can see that some of the reenactors are wearing different colors from others. Of course, the blue and gray marching side by side are obvious. The bright red trim marks the artillitery units.
In the reenactment on Sunday, at least four manned the guns for the “assault” on the Coopers’ old home — Edenton Bell Battery; Riley’s Battery; Charlotte’s Artillery and Elliott’s Battery.  The bayonet charge included infantry from NC 7th, 10th, 11th, 13th and 18th, and I might have missed a couple.  The reenactors came from Dunn, New Bern, the Charlotte area and many other places to help honor contemporary veteran Jeff Cooper.  Noting blue uniforms among the gray, I asked which Union regiments were on hand, and several folks explained that reenactors usually carry “alter ego” from the opposing side.  Otherwise, they would be hard-pressed to reenact the actual battles!
