Wanted: A Few Skilled Volunteers
Things are happening so fast at the site near Jamesville, NC that you miss something if you blink! Today (Tuesday), the builder tells us that he absolutely, positively needs more skilled volunteers immediately — especially FRAMERS — who can finish up the walls. The folks keeping the event running need general volunteers, too, usually about 30 per shift, 24 hours a day. They are checked in on a first-come, first-served basis at the DFI building.
All volunteers must be 18 or older and must be dressed for hard work: that means closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing! From 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., all volunteers check in at the DFI building on US 64 just east of Jamesville. After 7 p.m., check in is at the building site on at 1292 Cooper Lane, Jamesville, NC south of US Highway 64. Turn south onto Jerden Thicket Road and, after about two miles, you’ll see the security guard to the left on Cooper Lane.
The DFI building is also the check-in point for spectators, who are welcome from about 8 a.m. until the last shuttle bus leaves the site at 7 p.m. (not 8 p.m. as stated in earlier notices). Remember that EVERYONE, including spectators, MUST wear closed-toed shoes. The site is an open cotton field with minimal shelter, especially for spectators, so planning for sun, weather and comfort is important.
Check the project website for details and updates — and have fun!
