It’s only fitting that with the recent Tarheel victory over the Duke Blue Devils, we would represent with some Carolina pride on the build site. Today, we had the chance to catch up with Surry Wood, a former UNC-Chapel Hill basketball player. After hearing about the build through his friend, a worker for Evergreen Foam and Insulation, Surry quickly decided to volunteer his time for the company and to be part of the build here in Jamesville— he arrived at 2:30 am this morning, and, as in any Carolina basketball game, gave 100% until the job was complete. Surry told me that he thought the most remarkable part of this effort is simply the way the community embarks on this project with one focus and one goal in mind (this aligns with a common theme throughout this week). What an amazing experience to be a part of!
