Catering Partner Spotlight: Captain Bob’s

The fine folks of Captain Bob’s Restaurant & Catering (a 25 year-old operation based out of Hertford) have been keeping us good and fed for the past few meals. I caught up with Joey and Paul of Captain Bob’s this afternoon— the two were on site cooking up a delicious lunch of boiled shrimp, fried shrimp, green beans, hush puppies, and banana pudding for the VIP tent. Joey and Paul, along with a few of their colleagues, were on site until 11:30 pm yesterday, and they fed all the volunteers here a 6:00 meal and a 10:00 meal. They made it back to Hertford at midnight on Tuesday, and then turned right back around at 5:00 this morning to start fixing lunch for today. That means they’ve prepared around 1,000 meals in the past 24 hours— whew! They’ve also been letting other volunteers use their food preparation trailer all week, and the guys told me they’re having a ball: “It’s like a country fair.”
