It really surprised me that this many people were here, because we as veterans don’t see all this patriotism sometimes… It shows that a bunch of good Americans that can get together and get something good out of it.

Clemons, a veteran of both the Vietnam and Gulf Wars, got to know Jeff two years ago when Jeff’s son, Aaron, was in the hospital after the terrible accident that took his right arm. “He had my number, and we were at his service,” Clemons told us. “Jeff appeared to me then to be a good brother.” He added that the veterans in his DAV chapter are “just about as close that you could call us family.”
